“Chhadiya Chann Samundron Par” narrates the gulf between the Indian and Western lifestyles and beliefs and how a family of traditional Punjabi family tries to adjust to a young (and vice versa) born and raised in another country. It is a story of Gurdial Singh, who migrates to Punjab during the Partition and sets up a strong business empire with his hard work and perseverance. The strong enmity between his sons is the main cause of tension and turbulence in his life. The entry of Simran, a girl brought up in the West, as Gurdial Singh’s grandson’s wife, marks a change in this estranged family. Episode Synopsis : Baldev Singh complaints Gurdial singh about Manpreet’s love letter making it a big issue and by making Gurdial Singh feel insulted about it and provokes him to make a right decision on it. Mona remembers Gurnaam’s suggestion to take up fashion designing as a profession. Mona decides to start her business so that she can support her family. Anukalp is surprised to see Mona awake late in the night. When Anukalp asks, Mona lies that she was designing Vimmi’s salwar suits. Anukalp wakes up and finds that Mona has fallen asleep on the table. He picks her and puts her on the bed. Anukalp lets her sleep. Bijal finds Anukalp ironing his shirt and calls Aanchal to help him out. Bharti gets upset when she notices Aanchal ironing Aunkalp’s shirt. Bharti is furious when she learns from Anukalp that Mona was still sleeping. Aanchal even gets Anukalp’s lunch box. Anukalp tells Aanchal to wake Mona up later. Episode 91

Anukalp feels embarassed when Sweetie asks him about his and Mona’s secret meeting. After Anukalp leaves, Sweetie tells Mona that with Anukalp’s support she can easily solve all the problems. Anukalp teases Mona and they both share happy moments together. Hetal goes to meet Karan and indirectly expresses her liking for him. Bharti and Kalpesh leave to go to the temple. Bharti tells Hetal to take care of the house. Anukalp calls Mona and asks her to meet him but Mona refuses saying that she has work at home. When Anukalp insists, Mona agrees to meet him. Hetal is very happy that Bharti is gone for the whole day. Mona does all the house work to please Bharti. When Bharti returns, Mona tells her that she has completed all the house work. Bharti is shocked to see everyone playing cards. To escape Bharti’s angry, Baa lies that Sweetie and Vimmi forced them to play the game of cards. Bharti gets furious and yells at Hetal for playing cards along with the others. Hetal tells Bharti that she did not do anything wrong. When Bharti asks her not to argue, Hetal loses her patience and points out that it was wrong on her part to expect that everybody should live their lives according to her terms. Bharti is surprised by Hetal’s behavior. Bharti is hurt that her own children are back answering her. Mona tries to pacify Bharti. But Bharti blames Mona for all the problems.

Finally they decide that Shyamal should start a vegetable business and provide home delivery service too. Shyamal gets a good response as soon as she starts the business. All the family members help Shyamal in cutting, packing and delivering the vegetables. Later, the local vegetable vendor too starts delivering vegetables home and also reduces the price. Episode 145

Bharti and Bijal are upset when they learn that Mona has stopped the vendor from delivering Bapuji’s Gujarati newspaper. Bapuji is hurt. Mona tries to explain the reason why she has stopped the newspaper. Anukalp tries to take Mona’s side but Bijal stops him. Baa tells Bharti that perhaps Mona does not like them. Bharti is furious at Mona for hurting Baa and Bapuji’s sentiments. Bharti laments that Mona has failed to live up to her expectations. When Anukalp tries to explain, Bharti dismisses him, saying that he has changed after marrying Mona and was hardly concerned about the family. Hurt by Hetal’s comments, Sweety requests Parmeet to take her home. Parmeet tries to make her understand his plight. He begs Sweety not to take stress. Parmeet asks her if she has spoken to her parents. Sweety tells him that she does not have a home to call her own. Parmeet tells Sweety that he has failed to convince his father to forgive her. Vimmi asks Sweety if she was crying. Anukalp calls Mona and tells her that he has failed to be a good son and a good husband. Mona tells him that she did not feel bad about his parents scolding her. Anukalp tells her that he is proud to have her as his wife. Parmeet meets Amrit and asks her permission to take Sweety along with him to Chennai for a business trip. Amrit worries that Sweety will not be able to take care of herself in a new city. Hetal’s happiness knows no bounds when she hears this. Vimmi asks Sweety if she is going because she is angry …

Mona deliberately shows a picture to Bharti of Hetal and Karan. She tries to tell Bharti about their relationship and states that they make a good pair together Bharti gets furious hearing Mona’s statement. Bharti realizes that she will have to get Hetal married soon before everybody finds out about her and Karan’s relationship. She therefore asks Baa to call the priest to their place in the evening. Bharti tells Baa that she does not want to delay Hetal’s marriage further. Meanwhile, Dimpy tries her best to prove to everyone that Parminder is a very good girl. Bharti and Baa get ready to meet the groom’s family at the temple. At the Bedi residence, Parminder resents Dimpy plans to get her married to Karan. Parminder tells Dimpy that she would not have come to India if she knew about her plans to get her married. Dimpy makes Parminder understand that they cannot return to Canada until she marries Karan. She tells Parminder that marrying Karan would mean she gets to lead a life of luxury as Karan was all set to inherit the business. Parminder finally agrees to follow her mother’s will. Dimpy tells Vimmy that Parminder wants to go to Gurudwara. Amrit makes Karan take her to the Gurudwara. Vimmi tells Amrit that they should consider Parminder for Karan. Meantime, at the temple, Anukalp asks Bharti why she is eager to get Hetal married so soon. Bharti states that they cannot further delay her marriage. Mona fears that if the groom likes Hetal and agrees for the marriage then …

Kuber, the beggar (Viju Khote) comes to get his daughter married. The Baraatis are shocked to see that the beggar is very rich. The beggar gives them advance in coins. The whole family is troubled by all the coins. Locha goes to the bank with all the coins. Everyone is worried about him. He comes and tells them that all the coins fell and the people picked up. Vaswani tells Lallu that he had failed the brakes of truck carrying coins. Kuber tells Chandu that he is cancelling the wedding and wants his advance back. And he wants it all in coins.
