Volvo to Increase V60 Production

Volvo will increase its production target for the V60 diesel plug-in hybrid to nearly 6,000 units per year. The first 1,000 cars were sold before arriving in showrooms. Management decided to meet the publics demand by upping production numbers, effective January 2013. The next wave of V60 hybrids, like the first, will be manufactured in Volvos facilities in Gothenburg, Sweden. At that location, the company also produces its XC90, S80, XC70, V70, and V60. The diesel engine is paired with an electric motor that draws power from an 11.2 kWh battery. The car is able to operate in all-electric mode for approximately 31 miles. Nissan Announces Lower Pricing for Leaf EV

Nissan Motor Co. announced this week that their Leaf electric car would cost less next year. In addition, the EV will feature a new function that informs drivers about the remaining range. Nissan responded to owner surveys, which showed that Leaf drivers wanted to know about remaining mileage, and desired a lower price. Nissan has increased the cars range to 142 miles from the previous 124 miles. The 18-mile range increase was achieved by making the car lighter and simplifying the battery packs. In Japan, the starting price for the base model went from $ 37,000 to $ 31,000. So far, these upgrades and price alterations are confined to the Japanese market. For the complete story, see:
